LYNCHBURG, Va. – About a month away from the start of the 2026-27 indoor track & field season, Liberty Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Lance Bingham announced the Flames' 2027 outdoor schedule. For the second year in a row, Liberty will get things started at the Virginia Opener, March 20 in Charlottesville, Va.
As usual, the Flames will close out the regular season with their lone home competition at the Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex, the Liberty Twilight Qualifier (May 5). Liberty's Senior Day will mark the Flames' seventh meet in the Commonwealth of Virginia, also including a trio at the University of Lynchburg (Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational – March 26-27, Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic – April 9-10 and The Hill City Twilight – April 24), two at Virginia (Virginia Opener – March 20 and Virginia Challenge – April 16-17) and one at Randolph (WildCat Invitational – April 16-17).
Hosted by Georgia, the April 30 Torrin Lawrence Memorial is a new fixture on this year's schedule. A group of Liberty throwers will compete in Athens at the tail end of the regular season.
For the first time, Delaware will play host to the CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, May 13-15. The Flames will then close out the year at a couple familiar venues, including Jacksonville, Fla. (NCAA Division I East First Rounds – May 26-29) and Eugene, Ore. (NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships – June 9-12).
