LYNCHBURG, VA. – Liberty Men's Soccer Head Coach Scott Wells has announced the addition of Dylan Lane to his coaching staff. The former collegiate standout will serve as an assistant coach.
"I am extremely excited to welcome Dylan to our program," said Wells. "We have shared some fantastic battles during his time as a player, and I know he understands the expectations of playing in the Southern Conference. He was a fantastic player, and now I am thrilled to contribute to his skillset as he begins his coaching career."
Lane brings experience across multiple coaching environments. He currently serves as an assistant coach for Asheville City Soccer Club in USL League Two, working alongside Wells and Associate Head Coach Carl Reynolds. He was part of the first staff in club history to win a U.S. Open Cup match.
Previously, Lane was the Lead Performance Coach at SoccerGenome, where he planned and delivered more than 35 training sessions per week, working with athletes ranging from youth players to NCAA Division I athletes.
He also served as Director of Coaching at 360 Soccer GVL, where he designed and implemented 25 weekly training sessions, led 1-v-1 attacking and shooting clinics, and organized youth academy programming across multiple age groups.
Lane began his collegiate coaching career during the 2024–25 season as an assistant coach at Wofford College, focusing on session planning, individual development plans, video analysis, and daily team operations.
As a player, Lane competed at Furman University from 2020 to 2024, appearing in 76 matches with 60 starts as a midfielder. He recorded eight goals and 13 assists, served as team captain, and earned First Team All-Southern Conference honors as a senior.
Lane also competed with Vermont Green Football Club in USL League Two and was part of the club's 2024 U.S. Open Cup roster, which secured the first tournament win in team history.
A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Lane graduated from Furman in 2024 with a degree in Communications and Media Studies.
