
Women’s Tennis Earns 7-0 Sweep at Longwood

FARMVILLE, Va. – Liberty (11-5) earned a sweep on Monday with a 7-0 triumph at Longwood (6-6). The Lady Flames earned their 14th consecutive victory against the Lancers.
T
he Lady Flames secured what turned out to be a tight doubles round, despite the 2-0 mark. Daniella O'Neill and Milana Tsulygina handled business on court two with a 6-0 sweep. Liberty secured the doubles point on court three thanks to Anika Lemus and Candy Wai. The duo held a 5-2 lead that Longwood managed to even at 5-5. Liberty prevailed with clutch games to earn the 7-5 triumph. Court one went unfinished in a tiebreaker despite Yoanna Radulova and Maria Turchetto, themselves, fighting back from a 2-5 deficit.
Lemus kept the winning going with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Genevieve Dickey in the No. 6 singles match. O'Neill followed with her fourth-straight singles victory, with a 6-3, 6-2 defeat of Ga Hyun Song Kwon.
The Lady Flames clinched the match-winning fourth point on court five, with Celina Joseph earning a 6-2. 6-2 victory over Alexandra Magia.
Play continued as Liberty secured three additional singles wins to secure the 7-0 sweep. Maria Turchetto (6-4, 6-4), Milana Tsulygina (5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (4)) and Candy Wai (6-2, 6-1) each secured victories.
