
Nesci Named the ASUN Offensive Player of the Week

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty freshman Sophia Nesci was named the Atlantic Sun Offensive Player of the Week after a stellar week with 10 goals, four assists and 14 points. She led Liberty to a 2-0 week with big road victories over Lindenwood (19-8) and Austin Peay (24-7) to open conference play.
Nesci receives Liberty's first ASUN Player of the Week honor this season. She recorded mirrored stat lines with five goals and two assists in each contest.
The freshman was highly efficient, leading the scoring attack for the Lady Flames. She recorded her 10 goals on 11 total shots, with all her shots hitting the goal frame. Nesci also converted 4-of-5 free-position attempts, along with netting two scores while a woman down.
The Syracuse, N.Y., native has exploded onto the scene for the Lady Flames. Nesci has scored in every game this season, leading the squad with 24 goals and 37 points (13 assists).
She ranks No. 12 in the country in free-position percentage (8-of-11, .727) and No. 14 in shot percentage (24-of-40, .600). Nesci also ranks No. 8 among all freshmen with 4.11 points per game.
Nesci is currently on pace (4.11 PPG) to break Katy Pridemore's freshman scoring record, which she set in 2015 (52g, 68a, 3.4 PPG).
