LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty right-hander Ben Blair has been selected the CUSA Pitcher of the Week for March 23. It is the third time this season the junior has received the honor.
On Friday, Blair pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits in Liberty's 2-0 win in 10 innings at Kennesaw State. He struck out eight and walked one. However, he did not figure in the decision. At one point during the outing, he retired nine
consecutive batters (last out of the first to a two-out single in fourth).
It was Blair's fourth straight game with eight or more strikeouts. The junior has posted a 3-1 record with a 1.53 ERA over 35 1/3 innings. In six starts, he has struck out 50 and walked four. Opponents are hitting .152 against him.
Currently, he is 14th nationally with 50 strikeouts. His 12.50 strikeout-to-walk ratio is ninth in the country. In addition, the right-hander is fourth nationally with a 0.65 WHIP.
