LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Flames men's tennis earned a No. 50 ITA National Team ranking, the organization announced Thursday. This week's edition of rankings expanded from the top 25 teams to include 75 programs.
Liberty (4-5) has secured marquee victories on the road at No. 19 Princeton (4-3 final) and No. 64 Penn State (6-1 final).
The team's No. 50 ranking is the highest since the team was No. 48 on April 9, 2024. The ranking is the highest the team has held in the initial top-75 rankings release since March 24, 2021, when the team secured a No. 43 ranking.
No Flame was included in the singles or doubles national rankings. Rodrigo Santiago Arraez has led the Flames in the No. 1 singles position. The junior sports a 4-5 record and is 1-4 against nationally ranked opponents.
Liberty puts its national status to the test next weekend at the Diablos College Invitational (Feb. 27-28). The Flames will face a number of ranked opponents when they compete in the three-match event for the fourth consecutive season. Those attending include No. 11 Arizona State, No. 17 Arizona, No. 55 UC Santa Barbara, No. 63 Boise State and No. 66 Washington, Michigan State and Tulane.
