
Flames to Face Vermont in 1st Matchup of ESPN Events Invitational

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Flames will face the Vermont Catamounts in their first game of the 2025 Terry's Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational in late November.
The Flames and Catamounts will square off in a quarterfinal matchup on Nov. 24 at 1:30 p.m. at Walt Disney World Resort's State Farm Field House at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Kissimmee, Fla. This contest will be carried live on ESPNU.
The winner of that matchup will face the winner of the first Nov. 24 quarterfinal game (11 a.m.) between Rhode Island and Towson. The other side of the bracket features quarterfinal matchups between Temple and UC San Diego (4:30 p.m.) and Princeton and Bradley (7 p.m.).
Liberty and Vermont have met one time previously, with the squads squaring off in the 2023 Myrtle Beach Invitational title game. The Flames claimed the Myrtle Beach Invitational championship, prevailing 71-61. The Flames and Catamounts are two of the premier mid-major programs in the country, with both teams winning 10 or more championships (regular season/division and tournament titles) over the last seven seasons. Liberty ranks No. 6 nationally with 177 wins (25.3 wins/season) over the past seven years, and Vermont is tied for 14th in the country with 163 victories (23.3 wins/season) in that span.

The eight-team Terry's Chocolate ESPN Invitational was originally announced back on May 28. These eight teams will compete in the Adventure Bracket and each play three games between Monday-Wednesday, Nov. 24-26.
A total of 16 teams across three brackets will participate in the ESPN Events Invitational. The Magic Bracket features BYU, Dayton, Georgetown and Miami (Fla.), with games played on Nov. 27 and 28. The Imagination Bracket features Richmond, Furman, Charlotte and Illinois State, with contests held on Nov. 27 and 28.
This will be the 19th year Walt Disney World has hosted Thanksgiving week college basketball at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. All the games will once again be played at State Farm Field House, a venue that has been the site of world-class basketball competitions, including NBA games and elite youth tournaments.
