LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Flames men's basketball squad has been invited to compete in the 2025 Terry's Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational in late November.
The eight-team tournament that Liberty is participating in will be held Nov. 24-26 at Walt Disney World Resort's State Farm Field House at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Kissimmee, Fla. The strong field includes: Liberty, UC San Diego, Bradley, Vermont, Princeton, Towson, Temple and Rhode Island. These eight teams will compete in the Adventure Bracket and each play three games between Monday-Wednesday, Nov. 24-26.
Liberty's quarterfinal opponent for its first game on Nov. 24 will be announced at a later date. All games will be televised across ESPN platforms.
Of the eight teams in the tournament, five squads (Liberty, UC San Diego, Bradley, Towson, Vermont) won 20 or more games last season, and three participated in postseason play. Liberty (28-7, 13-5 CUSA) won the CUSA regular season and tournament titles last season and played in the NCAA Tournament Round of 64. UC San Diego (30-5, 18-2 Big West) claimed the Big West regular season and tournament titles as well during the 2024-25 campaign, advancing to the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Bradley (28-9, 15-5 Missouri Valley) reached the quarterfinals of the NIT.
A total of 16 teams across three brackets will participate in the ESPN Events Invitational. The Magic Bracket features BYU, Dayton, Georgetown and Miami, with games played on Nov. 27 and 28. The Imagination Bracket features Richmond, Furman, Charlotte and Illinois State, with contests held on Nov. 27 and 28.
This will be the 19th year Walt Disney World has hosted Thanksgiving week college basketball at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. All the games will once again be played at State Farm Field House, a venue that has been the site of world-class basketball competitions, including NBA games and elite youth tournaments.
Fans can sign up for first access to pre-sale tickets at the ESPN Events Invitational website. Tickets will go on sale later this summer in conjunction with the bracket and schedule releases.
The Flames competed in a multi-team event last season, winning the 2024 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam. Liberty posted a 3-0 mark at the tournament, capturing the title with victories over Louisiana (quarterfinals), Kansas State (semifinals) and McNeese (final).
The rest of Liberty's non-conference schedule will be released at a later date.
