
Liberty Field Hockey Unveils 2025 Schedule

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty field hockey squad has unveiled its fall 2025 match schedule.
The Lady Flames will play 17 regular season contests and a seven-game BIG EAST Conference regular season schedule. For the second time ever and first time since 2018, the program will host the BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship at the Liberty Field Hockey Field. The four-team 2025 BIG EAST Tournament will take place Nov. 7-9 in Lynchburg.
Liberty will play a trio of exhibition matches against Virginia (road, Aug. 16), Davidson (home, Aug. 22) and Appalachian State (home, Aug. 24) before opening the year at No. 9 Duke on Aug. 29. The Lady Flames' 2025 schedule includes games against six teams that finished among the top 20 in the country in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll in 2024, including matchups with No. 1 North Carolina (road, Sept. 14) and 2024 NCAA national runner-up No. 3 Saint Joseph's, Oct. 19 in Lynchburg.
Liberty will also face No. 4 Connecticut in its BIG EAST home opener, Sept. 26. The other ranked foes from last year the Lady Flames will square off with include No. 8 Virginia (road, Oct. 14) and No. 15 UAlbany (home, Sept. 12).
Liberty's home opener will be against in-state rival James Madison on Sept. 3. The Lady Flames' other home games include showdowns against Richmond (Sept. 7), Old Dominion (Oct. 3), Providence (Oct. 17) and Villanova (Oct. 31). Liberty's other road games will be at Quinnipiac (Sept. 19, BIG EAST opener), William & Mary (Sept. 28), Appalachian State (Oct. 5), Georgetown (Oct. 10), Temple (Oct. 24) and Longwood (Oct. 26).
Liberty (10-8, 4-3 BIG EAST in 2024) has competed in the NCAA Field Hockey Championship in three of the past four seasons (fall 2021, 2022 and 2023) and five times overall (also 2013 and 2014). Last year's squad ended the year as the No. 18-ranked team in the country and was No. 23 in the final NCAA Field Hockey RPI listing.
