
No. 2 Liberty Taken Down 4-0 by No. 1 Middle Tennessee in CUSA Title Match

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 2 seed Flames (11-13) fell 4-0 to No. 1 seed Middle Tennessee (16-11) in the 2025 Conference USA Men's Tennis Championship title match on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Raiders secure their sixth consecutive CUSA championship while Liberty finishes as CUSA runners-up for the second straight season. The Flames await news on their postseason fate.
Lynchburg, Va., and the Liberty Tennis Complex served as the host site for both the 2025 CUSA Men's and Women's Tennis Championship.
Middle Tennessee took a highly contested doubles point with victories on courts three and two. Liberty's No. 1 and No. 54 doubles pair of Joaquim Almeida and Siwanat Auytayakul secured a 6-4 triumph. On court two, Liberty battled back from a 2-4 deficit with three straight games to take a 5-4 lead. The Blue Raiders fought back with three consecutive games to secure the doubles point with a 7-5 win.
The Blue Raiders began the singles round, winning five of six first sets. Middle Tennessee secured a 2-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph in the No. 3 singles match. The No. 1 seed earned a commanding lead with a 6-1, 6-4 victory on court two.
Middle Tennessee secured the championship-clinching point on court one as Karim Al-Amin bested Joaquim Almedia 6-3, 7-5. The Blue Raiders secured all three singles victories in the top half of the lineup.
The remaining three matches on courts four, five and six, all reached a third set before the match was clinched.
