PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Battling a field littered with top-50 ranked teams and lengthy weather delays on Sunday, Liberty finds itself in ninth place heading into the final round at The Hayt.
Despite experiencing a two-hour lightning and rain delay and facing 10 top-50 ranked teams, Liberty found a way to shave two shots off its first round score.
The Flames carded a 1-over par 289 on Sunday during their second trip around the Sawgrass Country Club (par 72, 6,966 yards).
Liberty dropped one spot down the leaderboard and finds itself in ninth place with an overall 4-over par 580 (291-289), sharing the spot with No. 37 Charlotte (289-291).
The three top-five ranked teams in the field moved themselves into striking distance of No. 18 Alabama, who is the clubhouse leader at 22-under par 554 (279-275).
No. 9 Virginia is seven shots back with a 15-under par 561 (286-275). No. 28 Duke is in third place with a 13-under par 563 (283-280).
No. 4 Texas (12-under par 564/290-274) and No. 8 North Carolina (7-under par 569/290-279) round out the top five teams in the field.
Liberty's Ike Joy posted one of the top rounds of the day, despite the less-than-ideal playing conditions. The redshirt junior recorded a 3-under par 69 with a clean card of three birdies and 15 pars, registering his fifth round in the 60s during the 2024-25 season.
Joy enters tomorrow's final round in a share of 11th place with an overall 3-under par 141 (72-69). He ranks second in the field with 29 pars through two rounds.
Josh Ryan joins Joy inside the top 25 ranking in the field, as Ryan is tied for 25th place with an even par 144 (73-71).
Play is scheduled to get underway tomorrow at 7:30 a.m., with the Flames beginning to tee off at 10:30 a.m.
