
Joy’s Top 10 Performance Paces Liberty at The Hayt

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Battling a strong field and even stronger windy conditions on Monday, Liberty's Ike Joy spotlighted the Flames' showing at The Hayt with a top-10 performance.
Joy finished the event, which featured 10 top-50 ranked programs, with his third top-10 posting of the 2024-25 season. He finished tied for sixth place with a 4-under par 212 (72-69-71).
Joy opened the fall season with a share of 10th place at the Rod Myers Invitational, carding a 3-under par 213 (69-72-72).
Joy also recorded a top-10 finish at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational earlier this year. He closed out the fall season with a career-best four-place finish at the Hawaii hosted tournament, carding a 14-under par 199 (68-65-66).
The 15-team field battled 20 MPH sustained winds throughout the day on Monday, dramatically increasing the team and individual scores during the final round.
After the Sawgrass Country Club (par 72, 6,966 yards) played at a scoring average of 71.75 during Sunday's second round, the 84-man field succumb to a final round scoring average of 75.55.
No. 4 Texas, the top ranked team in the field, was the only squad to post a team score in red figures on Monday, carding a 6-under par 282.
The stellar showing allowed the Longhorns to rise to the top of the leaderboard and claim the team title with an overall winning score of 18-under par 846 (290-274-282).
No. 18 Alabama held the clubhouse lead following play on Saturday and Sunday. However, the Crimson Tide closed with a 16-over par 304 to fall to third place overall (6-under par 858/279-275-304).
Liberty finished the event in 14th place with an overall team score of 24-over par 888 (291-289-308). Josh Ryan was Liberty's second-best finisher, turning in a 37th-place showing with a 4-over par 220 (73-71-76).
The Flames were the most consistent team in the 15-team field, leading the tournament with 175 pars. Individually, Joy finished with 43 pars (43 out of 54 holes), while Ryan ranked third in the field with 38 pars.
