Liberty senior outfielder Rachel Roupe was named Conference USA Player of the Week for the third week in a row.
Roupe was named Conference USA Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. She is the first player in conference history to be named CUSA Softball Player of the Week in three straight weeks.
A native of Sharpsburg, Md., Roupe earns her program-record 11th conference player of the week honor. She has earned six player of the week honors in CUSA and five in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Her four CUSA Player of the Week honors this year are the most conference player of the week awards by any player in a single season in program history.
Roupe continued to dominate CUSA pitching especially, batting .625 (5-for-8) with a double, two homers, five RBI, six runs scored, a 1.500 slugging percentage and .727 on base percentage during a three-game sweep at Jax State. For the week as a whole, which also included a doubleheader at No. 13 Duke and a win at UNC, she hit .438 (7-for-16) with one double, three homers, six RBI and seven runs scored.
In Liberty's second game at Duke on Tuesday, she batted 1-for-1 with two walks, a homer, one RBI and one run scored. She hit a game-tying home run in the top of the fourth, with her majestic blast tying the game at 2-2.
On Wednesday, she went 1-for-3, helping Liberty become just the second team this season (also Michigan) to beat North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
In the series-opening 3-0 win over Jax State, Roupe batted 2-for-3 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored. Her third-inning two-run homer got the scoring started, and then she singled and scored an insurance run in the sixth.
On Saturday, she went 1-for-3 with a walk, homer, three RBI and two runs scored. She scored the game's first run in the first inning and broke open the game with a three-run homer in the second inning, making it 5-0. The Lady Flames went on to win 12-3 in six innings.
In Sunday's 5-2 win at Jax State, Roupe went 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored.
The Lady Flames (27-6, 8-0 CUSA) play eight of their next nine games at home, including all four this week. Liberty hosts Longwood at 6 p.m. on Wednesday before playing host to UTEP for a three-game CUSA series, Friday through Sunday.
