Bryan Places 3rd in Women’s Javelin on Outdoor Track Opening Day

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Liberty's Patasha Bryan provided the biggest highlight on a light opening day of the Flames' 2025 outdoor track & field season, Friday at Vert Stadium. She placed third in the women's javelin at the Bob Davidson Team Challenge.
The Lady Flames, who captured the Bob Davidson Team Challenge women's title a year ago, are tied with Elon for fourth place with six points through two of 19 events. Akron (25 points) is the early women's leader.
Host High Point tops the men's team scores with 31 points through two events with the Flames yet to get on the scoreboard.
The reigning CUSA heptathlon champion, Bryan reached 135-5 on her second javelin attempt to place third of 19 competitors.
One week after earning All-America honors in the pentathlon, Meredith Engle followed in 10th place at 112-7.
On the heels of a strong indoor campaign which culminated in a CUSA heptathlon crown, Gabriel Willis finished a team-best ninth place in the men's javelin on Friday. His top throw measured 169-4.

The Bob Davidson Team Challenge will conclude with a full day of activity on Saturday. The men's high jump will be first to begin at 11 a.m., and the meet will air on ESPN+.
