
Cannings, Bozzuto Set to Compete at NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

Liberty freshman Aly Bozzuto and sophomore Kamryn Cannings are set to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.
The 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships will be hosted at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center, Wednesday through Saturday in Federal Way, Wash.
Both Bozzuto and Cannings will compete in the 50 free on Thursday. The following day, Cannings will contest the 100 fly and Bozzuto the 100 breaststroke. On Saturday, Cannings will swim in the 100 freestyle and Bozzuto in the 200 breaststroke.

Bozzuto will be the fourth Liberty freshman all-time to compete at the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, joining Jess Reinhardt (2013 – 100 fly, 200 fly), Payton Keiner (2018 – 100 back, 200 back) and Kamryn Cannings (2024 – 100 fly, 200 fly).
This is the ninth time in 15 years of the program's history that at least one Lady Flame has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships. The Lady Flames have had two All-America honorable mention finishers, in Brye Ravettine (13th in 50 free, 2012) and Jess Reinhardt (10th in 100 fly, 2014). All competitors at the cancelled 2020 NCAA Championships were named All-Americans, so Payton Keiner received All-American honors in 2020.
What's at Stake
Each of the final three days (Thursday through Saturday) of the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships begins at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT) with preliminary heats. Finals sessions will begin at 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. PT) each evening,
The NCAA Championships will feature a four-day meet format. The top 16 times from each event in morning prelims qualify for evening finals, with the top eight swimming in the A Final. Those who complete races in the A Final earn All-America first team status, while B Finalists are named honorable mention All-Americans.
How They Got Here
Cannings earned her spot at nationals with her 51.42 in the 100 butterfly A Final at the ASUN Championships. That time ranks 16th in the field. The freshman also earned B cut times in the 200 butterfly (1:58.31), 50 freestyle (22.07), 100 freestyle (48.45) and 200 freestyle (1:44.10) and will focus on the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly at nationals.
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Cannings was named the Most Outstanding Female Swimmer of the 2025 ASUN Championships. She won the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 fly at the 2025 ASUN meet.
Cannings is the program record holder in the 100 butterfly (51.26), 50 free (22.07), 100 free (48.45) and 200 free (1:44.10). She holds conference records in the 100 fly, 200 free, 400 free relay, 400 medley relay and 800 free relay.
Bozzuto earned her selection to nationals by swimming a conference-record 59.17 in the 100 breaststroke to win the 2025 ASUN A Final. Her time ranks 26th in the 100 breaststroke. She also earned B cut times in the 50 free (22.09), 100 free (49.03) and 200 breaststroke (2:11.28).
Hailing from Jupiter, Fla., Bozzuto was named the Most Outstanding Freshman of the ASUN Meet. She won both the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke at the 2025 ASUN Championships, while finishing second to Kamryn Cannings in the 50 free.

Thursday, March 19
Bozzuto and Cannings will get their meet program under way on Thursday, both competing in the 50 freestyle. They will be the first Lady Flames to swim the 50 free at the NCAA Championships since Jess Reinhardt in 2014.
50 Freestyle Preview
Cannings (22.07) and Bozzuto (22.09) both swam lifetime-best NCAA B cut times in the 50 free at the 2025 ASUN Championships. Last year, it took 21.71 to make the A Final at the NCAA Championships, while 21.93 was the last B Finalist.
Virginia's Gretchen Walsh, and 18-time NCAA champion and four-time Olympic medalist, has the top seed at 20.60, as she looks to defend her national title in the 50 free. Second-seeded Julia Dennis of Louisville (21.08) finished fifth in the 50 last year. Outside of Walsh and Dennis, Michigan's Brady Kendall (tied for 7th in 2024, 13th seed in 2025), is the last returning A Finalist from last year's 50 free. SEC 50 free champion Camille Spink of Tennessee is seeded third at 21.23, followed by Virginia's Claire Curzan (21.26) and Sophie Yendell of Pitt (21.30).
This year's eighth seed is held by Kristina Paegle of Indiana and Caroline Larsen of Louisville (21.63). Duke's Tatum Wall is seeded 16th at 21.79.
Friday, March 20
Friday's action features the 100's of each stroke, along with the 200 freestyle and 400 IM. Cannings' top event will be Friday, the 100 butterfly. Likewise, Bozzuto will swim the 100 breaststroke, her best event.
100 Butterfly Preview
Cannings holds the 16th fastest 100 butterfly time in the field, at 51.42. She swam 51.45 in last year's prelims, finishing 19th overall while posting the fastest 100 fly time of any freshman in the field. In 2024, it took 51.34 to make the B Final at the NCAA Championships, while 51.07 was the last A Finalist.
Virginia's Gretchen Walsh is the heavy favorite to defend her 100 fly title 100 fly with her ACC, American, NCAA and U.S. Open record 47.35, set in November. Torri Huske is seeded second after winning the ACC 100 fly title in 48.52. SEC 100 fly champion, and last year's NCAA runner-up, Emma Sticklen of Texas has the third seed (49.40), followed by NC State's Leah Shackley (50.33) and Ella Welch (50.74) of Louisville.
This year's eighth seed is held by Olivia Peoples of Florida (50.96), who placed sixth last year. Liberty's Kamryn Cannings (51.42) has the 16th seed.
100 Breaststroke Preview
Bozzuto is seeded 26th in the 100 breaststroke with her program and conference-record 59.17 which she swam in winning the event at the 2025 ASUN Championships. In 2024, it took 59.23 to make the B Final at the NCAA Championships, while 58.15 was the last A Finalist.
Virginia's Alex Walsh, a 2020 Olympian and 19-time NCAA champion, holds the fastest 100 breaststroke time at 56.85. Last year's runner-up, Mona McSharry of Tennessee, is seeded second at 57.26, followed by teammate McKenzie Siroky (57.27). USC's Kaitlyn Dobler finished third last year and holds the fourth seed at 57.41. Florida's Anita Bottazzo (57.49) and Texas' Piper Enge (57.69) round out the list of athletes entered who have broken 58 second in the 100 breaststroke this year.
This year's eighth seed is held by Henrietta Fangli of Houston (58.12), who placed 14th last year. Louisville's Mia Cheatwood (58.77) is seeded 16th.

On Saturday, Cannings will compete in the 100 freestyle before Bozzuto contests the 200 breaststroke. Cannings has the same individual event program as UVA's Gretchen Walsh (50 free, 100 fly, 100 free).

Annaliesa Moesch (46.76) is fourth, followed by Louisville's Julia Dennis (47.15) and Michigan's Lindsay Flynn (47.30).

Bozzuto swam a program-record 2:11.28 in the 200 breaststroke at the 2024 TYR '85 Invite. The freshman is 48th in the 200 breaststroke listing. Last year, the last B Finalist swam 2:08.18, while it took 2:07.30 to make the A Final.
The defending 200 breaststroke champion (UVA's Alex Walsh) is focusing on other events this week. Stanford's Lucerne Bell (2:04.60) holds the top seed at 2:04.60, followed by Duke's Kaelyn Gridley (2:05.71) and Tennessee's Mona McSharry (2:05.85). McSharry finished as runner-up last season, while Gridley was fourth. Alabama's Avery Wiseman is seeded fourth, followed by BYU's Mackenzie Miller (2:06.53) and McKenzie Siroky (2:06.57).
