
LaCount Competes on 1-Meter at Zones

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Liberty sophomore Chloe LaCount competed on one-meter springboard on day two of the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, Tuesday at Rutgers Aquatic Center.
LaCount, senior Maddie Freece and sophomore Shannon Icard are competing to earn a spot in the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, which will be held in Federal Way, Wash., March 19-22. Icard will contest platform diving tomorrow.
LaCount scored 187.30 points on one-meter, finishing 73rd overall in morning qualifying.
Liberty's Top Performers
Icard will close out this week's meet tomorrow, competing on platform. The preliminary round for platform diving begin at 9:30 a.m., with the top 18 scores advancing to finals.

- During this week's meet, the top 18 from prelims each day qualify for evening finals. The top seven combined scores from prelims and finals in one-meter diving qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.
- This year, it took 258.80 points to qualify for the Zone A Diving final on one-meter springboard. Elizabeth Kaye of Virginia had the top qualifying score today with 298.65.
- Today's event featured 81 divers. The divers represent schools from Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
- LaCount, Freece and Icard all competed on three-meter yesterday, with Icard placing 18th, Freece 38th and LaCount tying for 44th.
- Yesterday, Icard became the first Lady Flame since Freece in 2022 to qualify for an NCAA Zones final. Freece made the three-meter Zones final in both 2021 and 2022, earning a program-best finish of ninth at the 2021 NCAA Zone Championships.
- This is the seventh straight NCAA postseason appearance for Liberty's divers. The Lady Flames are attempting to send the first Liberty diver to compete in the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships.
