LINCOLN, Neb. – Liberty was handed a tough 7-0 loss against No. 36 ranked Nebraska on Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Flames dropped the doubles point, falling 6-3 on both courts two and three. The set on court 1 went unfinished with Liberty leading 5-4.
Daniella O'Neill was handed her first loss of the weekend by Ana Zamburek 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match. Yu-Yun Chen and Yoanna Radulova both fell in two sets. Chen was beaten by Maria Taranova 6-4, 7-6 in the No. 3 singles match, and Radulova was defeated by Rizzetto 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles match.
Celena Joseph, Anika Lemus, and Maria Turchetto, all went to a third set on Sunday. Joseph was dropped by Lucy Loy, 6-0, 6-7 (4), 6-1, on court six. Lemus had a strong start in her match winning the first set 6-2. However, her foe Tiziana Rossini won the next two sets for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 triumph. Turchetto's match was hard fought but she was ultimately upended by Reya Lee Coe 7-5, 4-6, 7-5.
The Flames went 1-1 on the road this weekend following a 5-2 triumph over Miami (OH) in a neutral-site match on Saturday.
