
8 Liberty Field Hockey Student-Athletes Tabbed NFHCA Scholars of Distinction

LYNCHBURG, Va. – A total of eight Liberty field hockey student-athletes – Ellie Livingston, Gianna Miller, Anna Miller, Ashlee Bucksar, Tori Griffiths, Josefina Tomasi, Mary Hazel Davis and Riley Welsch – were named 2024 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I Scholars of Distinction.
Each student-athlete earned the award for achieving a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2024-25 academic year. They are eight of 282 Division I field hockey players in the nation to receive this prestigious accolade. Liberty led all BIG EAST teams with its eight honorees.

- Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad for a fourth time as well
- Majoring in biomedical sciences
- Appeared in all 18 games (17 starts) during 2024 season, tallied five goals, one assist and 11 points
- Tabbed to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Oct. 15
- Scored game-winning goal at Villanova (Oct. 11) and notched two goals against Georgetown (Nov. 1)
- Honored as NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for third straight year
- Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad for third time as well
- Majoring in biomedical sciences
- Appeared in 15 games (all starts) this past season for a Liberty defensive unit which notched five shutouts in those 15 contests
- Honored as NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for second straight year
- Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad for third straight season
- Majoring in digital media and journalism – sports journalism
- Made nine appearances during fall 2024 campaign
- Honored as NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for second straight season
- Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad for second time
- Majoring in business administration & data analysis – marketing analytics
- Honored as NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for first time
- Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad for third straight year
- Majoring in English education
- Appeared in 11 games (three starts) this past year, totaled three goals, one assist, seven points, 13 shots (12 on goal) and one game-winning goal
- Tabbed to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll twice (Oct. 29 and Nov. 4)
- Scored one goal at No. 8 UConn (Oct. 25) and a pair of goals versus Georgetown (Nov. 1)
- Honored as NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for first time
- Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad for first time
- Intends on majoring in information technology – data networking and security
- Appeared in all 18 games (18 starts), totaled seven goals (No. 3 on team), four assists and 18 points (No. 3 on team)
- Tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Oct. 22 and to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 10
- Scored goals against a pair of ranked foes in No. 3 Virginia (Sept. 8) and No. 19 Old Dominion (Sept. 20)
- Notched two goals in a win over Quinnipiac, Oct. 18
- Honored as NFHCA Scholar of Distinction for first time
- Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad for first time
- Intends on majoring in business administration & data analysis – human resource management
- Appeared in 12 games (two starts) this past season, tallied one goal and two points
- Scored first career goal against Quinnipiac (Oct. 18)
