
Flames Wrap Up Play at Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Facing much different playing conditions on Sunday, Liberty, along with the rest of the field, struggled during the final round of the 2025 Gator Invitational.
After playing the Mark Bostick Golf Course (par 70, 6,701 yards) at a stroke average of 71.33 during play on Saturday, the 14-team field played Florida's home course at an average of almost three additional strokes per player on Sunday (73.79).
The 78-man field played much of the final round with 20 MPH winds with gusts up to 40 MPH and faced an hour-long rain delay.
Eight of the 14 teams in the field posted a double-digit over-par team score on Sunday, including the Flames.
Liberty finished its opening event of the spring season in 13th place with an overall score of 34-over par 874 (284-280-310).
Ike Joy paced the Flames on Sunday and overall at the tournament. The redshirt junior posted a 5-over par 75 during the final round and finished tied for 48th place overall with a 9-over par 219 (71-73-75).
Michael Lugiano finished one stroke behind Joy and shared 55th place with an overall 10-over par 220 (73-70-77).
Florida won its home tournament for the 31st time in program history. The No. 13 Gators posted a winning score of 17-under par 823 (271-274-278).
No. 7 Oklahoma fell just one shot short of the Gators, claiming the runner-up spot with a 16-under par 824 (277-270-277).
Florida's Ian Gilligan (8-under par 202/66-67-69) claimed medalist honors in a playoff with Charlotte's Justin Matthews (8-under par 202/69-64-69).
