
Liberty Rights Ship Against Navy with 6-1 Triumph

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty avoided a three-match losing streak with a dominant 6-1 triumph over Navy at home Saturday afternoon. The Lady Flames (2-3) secured two dominant 6-1 doubles finals over Navy (2-3) before winning four consecutive singles matches to earn the 6-1 match victory.
The Lady Flames took a pair of doubles matches with a 6-1 score on courts one and three to set the tone in the morning. Celina Joseph cruised to a commanding 6-1, 6-1 triumph followed by Yu-Yun Chen with a statement 6-0, 6-3 triumph. Yoanna Radulova clinched the match-winning fourth point with a 6-2, 6-3 score in the No. 3 singles match.
Freshman Anika Lemus, playing in her first career match on court four, came back from a trying first set. Lemus picked up her first Liberty victory with a 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (6) final.
Sadie Daavettila finished the day with a pair of tiebreak sets, cruising in the latter tiebreaker to come out on top 7-6 (5), 7-6 (0).
The Lady Flames continue their dominance over Navy, earning its fifth victory in as many meetings against the Midshipmen.
