LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty's Ivy Garner has been named to the Scholar All-American second team and All-Region first team, while Lauren Littleton was selected to the Scholar All-Region third team by United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced on Thursday.
Liberty receives recognition on the Scholar All-American team for the third straight year.
Garner receives the recognition for the second consecutive season and adds to her postseason honors. She becomes the first Lady Flame to earn the recognition more than once. Littleton receives the honor for the first time, becoming the fifth different Lady Flame to receive the honor.
To be eligible for the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American teams, a student-athlete must be a junior or above in athletic standing, be in at least their second year with the program, earn at least a 3.4 cumulative GPA in their career and have played a minimum of 75 percent of games during the season.
Both Garner and Littleton were selected to All-South Region teams earlier this month.
Garner earned a 3.75 GPA in her Graduate Certificate in nutrition after collecting a 3.86 GPA in her interdisciplinary studies bachelor's degree. The forward led Liberty's attack with 16 goals, six assists and 38 points and was named the CUSA Player of the Year and the CUSA Championship Offensive MVP.
Littleton earned a 3.87 GPA in her major of biomedical sciences. She was previously named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team. Littleton led the Liberty backline and was recognized with superlatives as the top CUSA defensive player in the preseason, regular season and championship.
