LYNCHBURG, Va. – During a break in his team's 2025-26 indoor track & field season, Liberty Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Lance Bingham announced the Flames' 2026 outdoor schedule. For the second year in a row, Liberty will get things started at the Bob Davidson Team Challenge, March 20-21 in High Point, N.C.
As usual, the Flames will close out the regular season with their lone home competition at the Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex, the Liberty Twilight Qualifier (May 6). That will mark Liberty's seventh meet in the Commonwealth of Virginia, also including a trio at the University of Lynchburg (Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational – March 27-28, Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic – April 10-11 and The Hill City Twilight – May 1), two at Virginia (Virginia Challenge – April 17-18 and Virginia High Performance – April 26) and one at Randolph (WildCat Invitational – April 17-18).
On the opposite end of the travel spectrum, Liberty will send two groups of athletes to Azusa, Calif., in April. The decathletes and heptathletes will take part in the Bryan Clay Multis (April 9-10), while the distance runners will compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 16-18).
Each of Liberty's championship meets will take place in familiar venues. The CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 14-16) will return to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for the second year in a row, while the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships (June 10-13) are back in Eugene, Ore., for the third straight season. In between, the NCAA Division I East First Rounds meet (May 27-30) will take place in Lexington, Ky., for the second time in the last three years.
