
Liberty Lacrosse Announces Eight Additions to 2026-27 Roster

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty women's lacrosse and head coach Kelly Nangle have announced the signing of eight student-athletes to the 2026-27 roster.
"We are extremely excited about the talented group of student-athletes we signed today. Each of these young women bring unique skills, strong work ethics and passion for the game that aligns perfectly with our program's values," Nangle said. "We believe they will not only excel on the field but also contribute positively to our team culture and academic success. We can't wait to welcome them to our program and watch them grow as players and leaders in the coming years! Go Flames!"
The class is comprised of athletes from eight different states with one from Virginia.
Hannah Barry | Attacker | | Vienna, Va. | James Madison High School
Barry is an attacker from Vienna, Va., who plays for James Madison and Pride Lacrosse Club.
The Attacker helped lead her team to an 18-5 record last season and a finish as the state runners-up. She accounted for 67 goals and 19 points. Barry also chipped in 49 ground balls, 15 caused turnovers and 32 draw controls. She was awarded selections to the All-Region and All-State teams.
Barry played defense as a freshman, contributing three goals and 22 ground balls with six caused turnovers. She was moved to the midfield as a sophomore, where she registered 22 goals and 65 draw controls.
A multi-sport athlete, Barry also competed in field hockey and basketball across 2022 and 2023.

Jean Counts, James Madison Head Coach – "Hannah is a dynamic player who is instrumental over the entire field. She can play any position, steps up to big challenges and does not back down. She is a team player who plays with an intensity unmatched by her peers. Hannah brings consistency, heart and confidence that is spread by her style of play and her leadership."
Miley Brunski | Attacker/Midfielder | Wheaton, Ill. | Montoni Catholic High School
Brunski is an attacker and midfielder from Wheaton Ill., where she plays for Montoni Catholic and Lakeshore Lacrosse.
She totaled over 260 goals and just under 400 points in her first three high school seasons. In her freshman season, Brunski totaled a career-high 100 goals and 48 assists (148 points). She remained a potent threat as a sophomore (87 goals, 130 points) and as a junior (79 goals, 117 points. She is a three-time All-Conference and All-Sectional selection.
Brunski has also played basketball for Montori the past three seasons.
On signing with Liberty – "It is a fulfillment of one of my childhood goals, and I knew Liberty was the place for me right when I stepped on campus. I look forward to growing my faith, academics, and lacrosse through Liberty."
Katie Miller, Assistant Coach, Montini Catholic High School – "Miley is a fantastic lacrosse player, but even more importantly, Miley is an exceptional teammate. Miley has helped our team be successful both on and off the field by working hard, supporting her teammates, and excelling as a dynamic and instrumental player. We know she will do the same for her team at the college level, and we are so proud of this great achievement. We wish her all the best as she joins the Liberty next year. Congrats, Miley!"
Sydnie Borrell | Attacker/Draw Specialist | Pittsford, N.Y. | Pittsford Mendon High School
Borrell is an attacker from Pittsford, N.Y., who plays for Pittsford Mendon and 3D Upstate.
She helped lead her team to a 14-5 record last season, finishing as runners-up in the Section V Class B. Borrell saw growth in scoring with 35 goals after totaling six goals her sophomore and playing on the junior varsity team as a freshman. She also contributed 52 draw controls her junior season. She was awarded the team's MVP award and was named to the Section 5 All-League team, Section 5 All-Tournament team and was recognized as a scholar athlete for the second consecutive year.
Borrell comes from a family of athletes. Her father played football at Butler and her mother played tennis at Gannon. Her sister, Reese, plays for Embry-Riddle.

Donovan Lopez, Pittsford Mendon Head Coach – "Syndie is a dynamic scorer and a relentless competitor who stands out on every field she steps on. She thrives in pressure situations and always wants the ball when the game is on the line. She is a key leader for our offense and a difference maker on our draw control unit."
Dave York – 3D Upstate Head Coach – "It was a pleasure coaching Sydnie throughout her career. She is one of the most determined and competitive players I have worked with. Her drive to succeed and relentless scrappy style of play always sets the tone for those around her and made a real impact in every game she played."
Ashlee Johnson | Midfielder | Sanford, Fla. | Lake Mary High School
Johnson is a midfielder from Sanford, Fla, who plays for Lake Mary and M&D Orlando.
She scored a career-high 48 goals and 21 assists (69 points) her junior year, while totaling 88 ground balls, 84 draw controls and 54 caused turnovers. She led her team to a 19-4 record with a finish as state runners-up. Johnson was selected on the All-Conference first team and Seminole Conference Midfield MVP. She holds the program record for career caused turnovers with 92 across three seasons. Johnson has also totaled 215 draw controls in her three years at Lake Mary.
Johnson led her team to six tournament championships with her club team. She has been selected to the American Select Florida team three times (2022-24), the Under Armour 150 two times (2023, 24), the USA Lacrosse Orlando Region team two times (2024, 25) and the AU Futures Florida Team three times (2022, 23, 26). Johnson was named the USA Lacrosse and Summer Genesis Game MVP this past summer.

Melissa Villanti, M&D Orlando Club Director and 2026 Black Coach – "I had the pleasure of coaching Ashlee for six years, and in that time, I watched her grow into one of the most athletic and talented players. Her speed and agility make her a constant threat on the field, and she competes with a quiet determination that never goes unnoticed. Though she's soft-spoken, Ashlee's sense of humor and one-liners always have the team laughing. She always brings energy, effort, and a spark to everything she does, making her one of those players you're just grateful to have on your team."
Ron Hill, Lake Mary Coach, Member US Lacrosse Hall of Fame Upstate New York Chapter – "Ashlee displays all the aspects of leadership qualities, starting with her love of the sport of lacrosse. Her attitude is exemplary as she demonstrates discipline, dedication, and desire in daily practice sessions and especially in games. Ashlee respects her teammates and coaching staff and they respect her. She will continue to be motivated and show her hard work ethic for Liberty University's Women's Lacrosse program."
Addison Meyer | Attacker/Midfielder | Manchester, Md. | Manchester Valley
Meyer is an attacker/midfielder from Manchester Md., where she plays for Manchester Valley and M&D 2026 Red.
After recording 30 goals her freshman year and 32 her sophomore season, Meyer recorded a career-high 55 goals in her junior year with 15 assists (70 points). She led her team to a perfect 19-0 record and the Maryland 2A State Championship title. Her squad was ranked No. 4 nationally and No. 1 among public schools. Meyer was named as a Player of the Week by CMSports Net and Sports-Illustrated-Maryland and is a two-time CMSportsNet Player of the Game selection.
A multi-sport athlete, Meyer played soccer all four years at Manchester Valley.

Cambria Rice | Midfielder | York, Pa. | York Suburban High School
Rice is a midfielder from York, Pa., where she plays for York Suburban and plays for Xtreme Lacrosse and Hurricane Girls Lacrosse.
With York Suburban, she has totaled over 300 goals in her high school career, including 128 goals in her junior season. Rice has recorded at least 170 draw controls each season with over 262 draw controls (.657 winning percentage) her junior year. She was recognized as a USA Lacrosse All-American this past season. Rice was No. 5 in scoring in the country among sophomores in 2024.
A multi-sport athlete, Rice also competed in field hockey and cross country at York Suburban.

Jaida Steffes | Midfielder | Farmington, Minn. | Farmington High School
Steffes is a midfielder from Farmington, Minn., where she plays for Farmington and MN Elite.
She has totaled over 100 goals at Farmington and has recorded 29 assists in each of the past two seasons. In her junior season, Steffes recorded 64 goals and 93 points along with 130 draw controls, 47 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers. She was selected to the Team MVP, the All-Section first team, the All-Conference team and the All-State team following her junior year performance.
Playing with her club teams, Steffes was named an IWLCA Player of the Game five times.

Molly Wierengo | Midfielder | Byron Center, Mich. | Byron Center High School
Wierengo is a midfielder from Byron Center, Mich., where she plays for Byron Center High School after playing her sophomore year at Northville. She also played club lacrosse for the Lakeshore National Premier team.
Playing for Byron Center, Wierengo tallied 100 goals her junior season with 35 assists (137 points), including 168 ground balls, 109 draw controls and 37 caused turnovers. She helped lead her team to a 13-6 record with a finish as a regional semifinalist. She was named to the All-State team while she became the program record holder in all categories.
In her sophomore season at Northville, Wierengo totaled a career-high 147 draw controls while also adding 109 points (82 g, 27a). She was named to the All-State teams and held the program record for goals and assists.
