
Liberty Faces Southern Indiana in 1st OVC Road Test Thursday

LYNCHBURG, VA. – The Liberty Flames men's soccer team travels to Evansville, Ind., for its first Ohio Valley Conference Road match of 2025 against the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles on Thursday. Kickoff at Strassweg Field is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET./1 p.m. CT.
Liberty enters the match with a 2-1 record in OVC play and a 6-3-2 overall record. The Flames split a pair of OVC home matches this past weekend. Head Coach Kelly Findley's team defeated Incarnate Word 2-1 on Thursday, before falling for the first time in conference action on Sunday to Houston Christian 1-0.
Thursday's meeting will be the second of the season between the two teams. The Flames downed the Eagles 6-1 at Osborne Stadium to begin conference play on Sept. 27.
USI enters the contest with a 1-1-1 OVC record and a 2-7-1 overall mark. The Screaming Eagles went 1-0-1 at home this past weekend. USI defeated Houston Christian 4-1 on Thursday, before tying Incarnate Word 2-2 on Sunday.

- Liberty has also averaged 7.36 shots on goal per game, seventh-best in the country and ranks 27th nationally in goal differential (+11).
- Zach Lifferth leads the Flames and is tied with three other players for the OVC lead with six goals. In addition, the senior leads Liberty with 13 points (6 goals, 1 assist) and is tied for second with Lindenwood's Gavin Csiszar.
- Defender Lucas Kelly and forward Sam Farner are tied for 10th place in the OVC with nine points each. Kelly has scored four goals and one assist, while Farmer has three goals and three assists.
- Defender Perry Blay leads the Flames with six assists. Blay is second in the OVC in assists.
- Tyler Beck has played every minute in goal this season for the Flames. The sophomore has posted a 1.45 goals-against average and a .660 save percentage. He has three shutouts.
- Head coach Kelly Findley is in his seventh and final season at Liberty. Findley has announced his retirement from college coaching at the end of the season.
