Peter and the Pacers squared off with the Oklahoma City Thunder in a 2025 NBA Finals rematch. Peter finished the night with three points on 1-of-2 shooting, one assist and one steal in 17 minutes of action. In the third quarter, the guard scored his first points as a NBA player. After his steal on the defensive end, Peter ran to the corner on the other end. Jarace Walker found Peter in the corner, and the rookie drilled the three-pointer, his first career basket, to put the Pacers up 74-70 with 3:31 left on the clock.
Peter first checked into the game at the 7:55 mark of the first quarter. The Pacers fell 141-135 in double overtime to the defending champion Thunder.
Peter is the fourth Liberty Flame to make an active NBA roster during the regular season, joined by Seth Curry, Julius Nwosu and Peter Aluma.
Peter was taken by the Pacers in the second round (54th overall pick) of the NBA Draft on June 26. He became the third player in program history and the first in the Division I era to be selected in the NBA Draft.
Peter was the first Flame selected in the draft in 40 years, since Cliff Webber was drafted in the fourth round by the Boston Celtics in 1985. With the selection, he became the highest NBA Draft pick in program history.
In July, he signed a two-way contract with the Pacers. With signing a two-way deal, Peter will be able to split time between the Indiana Pacers' main roster and its NBA G League affiliate, the Noblesville Boom. Peter will be eligible to play in a maximum of 50 NBA games during the upcoming season.
Peter enjoyed a strong 2024-25 season with the Liberty Flames, as he was named the CUSA Sixth Player of the Year, tabbed to the All-CUSA third team and honored on the CUSA Championship All-Tournament team. He was the team's leading scorer (13.7 ppg) on the year despite only starting two times. The guard shot 57.8 percent from the field and a program single-season record 45.3 percent from three-point range. Peter also led the nation in true shooting percentage (.724). The guard earned CUSA Player of the Week honors on March 9.
Peter and the Flames finished the year with a 28-7 overall record and 13-5 CUSA mark, winning both the CUSA regular season and tournament titles.
