Women’s Tennis Sets Off for Martha Thorn Invitational

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty Lady Flames tennis team sets off for its second tournament of the fall at the Martha Thorne Invitational hosted by West Virginia.
All but two Lady Flames, Daniella O'Neill and Anika Lemus, will participate in the annual event. Candy Wai (Tyler Junior College) will make her Liberty debut over the weekend.
The Lady Flames will be competing in the Martha Thorn Invitational for the first time in program history. The event is a five-team compass draw with all players guaranteed three singles matches and three doubles matches. Other participating teams include Duquesne, Penn State and Virginia.
Liberty previously competed in the Jimmy Powell Invitational to begin the fall season. Five Lady Flames competed in the event held at Elon.
Live stats and video will not be available for the event. Results will be posted on LibertyFlames.com as soon as they become available.

Lady Flames News & Notes
- Candy Wai will be making her Liberty debut this weekend. The Tyler Junior College transfer boasts a decorated career, having been named the ITA Junior College Freshman of the Year (2023-24) and Sophomore of the Year (2024-25).
- In her freshman season, Wai played under head coach Dash Connell. The two reunite at Liberty with Wai a year later, now as a junior.
- At the Jimmy Powell Invitational, Liberty used a multitude of playing combinations. The Lady Flames secured a 4-2 doubles record at the event.
