
Flames Have 3 in Top 20 After Day 1 of The Bryson Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Following the first round of The Bryson Invitational, Liberty has three golfers currently sitting inside the top 20 in the individual standings.
Liberty's Michael Lugiano, Silas Haarer and Luke Libbey fired matching rounds of 1-under par 71 during their first trip around the Daniel Island Club – Ralston Creek Course (par 72, 7,446 yards).
The 1-under par score has the trio of Flames tied for 19th place. They were one of 29 golfers to post a score in red figures on Monday.
Following the first round, the 84-man field is chasing Cincinnati's Ryan Ford, who opened the event with a 6-under par 66.
As a team, Liberty carded an even par 288 on Monday and shares ninth place with Charlotte in the 15-team field.
The Flames led the field in par-3 scoring during the first round with a 3.00 scoring average and were tied for second with 17 birdies.
Individually, Hareer finished the day tied for first place in par-5 scoring (-3/4.25 scoring averaging). Hareer, Libbey and Josh Ryan paced the Flames with four birdies apiece.
Vanderbilt opened the event with a 10-under par 278 and holes a two-stroke edge over Kansas and Wake Forest, who fired matching rounds of 8-under par 280.
The Flames will return to the course on Tuesday morning for the second round of the event. Liberty will be sent off the No. 11 tee at 8:30 a.m., along with golfers from Houston and TCU.
