- Liberty (16-4, 4-3 CUSA) will play at Kennesaw State (12-8, 4-3 CUSA) on Thursday night on CBS Sports Network. This will be the Flames' sixth nationally-televised league game this season.
- The Flames are coming off an 82-59 win at FIU, last Saturday. With the victory, Liberty head coach Ritchie McKay became the winningest coach in program history (260 wins). The Owls split a pair of CUSA road games last weekend, losing the second game of the trip by a 73-71 score at UTEP.
- Liberty is 9-2 all-time against KSU. The Flames won the first nine meetings in the series before the Owls claimed the last two, both during the 2022-23 season.
- This will be the 12th all-time meeting between the two teams but first with both teams in Conference USA. The Owls topped the Flames 88-81 in the 2022-23 regular season matchup in a game that helped determine the No. 1 seed for the 2023 ASUN Men's Basketball Championship. The two teams went on to meet in the ASUN title game at the KSU Convocation Center, with the Owls edging the Flames 67-66 to earn a berth into the 2023 NCAA Tournament.Â
- The Flames are 4-1 in true road games this year. Liberty's two opponents this weekend, Kennesaw State (9-0) and Jacksonville State (7-0) are a combined 16-0 on their respective home floors.
- Liberty has won 165 games over the last seven years, eighth most nationally during that span.
- Liberty ranks eighth nationally in scoring defense (61.4) and ranks in the top 20 in the country and also first in CUSA in effective field goal percentage, (No. 3, 58.7), scoring margin (No. 9, 17.2), assist/turnover ratio (No. 19, 1.65) and threes per game (No. 16, 10.4). - Taelon Peter is averaging 20.0 ppg over his last five games.
- Liberty is 78th in the nation in the current NCAA Men's Basketball NET Rankings. The Flames debuted at No. 53 in the first set of rankings on Dec. 2. Liberty is also No. 70 in the KenPom rankings. Kennesaw State is No. 158 in the NET and No. 168 in KenPom.
- Peter is the Flames' leading scorer (16.7 ppg) in conference play so far, doing so while averaging 24.8 minutes per game off the bench. He is shooting 57.4 percent from the field and 43.9 percent from three-point land in those seven games. Peter ranks No. 7 in scoring in league games.
- Liberty head coach Ritchie McKay (260 wins) surpassed Jeff Meyer (259 wins, 1981-97) for most wins as head coach in school history.Â
- Colin Porter ranks 16th in the country and first  in CUSA in assist/turnover ratio (3.22).Â
- Kaden Metheny is currently 25th nationally in threes per game (3.05) and 46th in total triples (58). He is No. 2 among CUSA players in threes per game and No. 3 in total threes.
- Porter (705 points), Metheny (685 points) and Zach Cleveland (664 points) are all approaching the top 50 in career scoring in program history. The No. 50 position (713 points) is currently shared by Delawn Grandison and Blake Preston.Â
- This will be Liberty's 14th all-time game on Jan. 30. The Flames are 9-4 all-time on this date and have won four straight. Liberty last played on this date four years ago, an ASUN road game at Jacksonville. The Flames topped the Dolphins 64-58 at Swisher Gymnasium, defeating JU for a second straight night. Darius McGhee led the Flames with 25 points. The night before, Liberty topped Jacksonville 59-54.
- Liberty is ranked No. 9 in the College Insider Men's Mid-Major Top 25®. The Flames were ranked No. 10 last week,  No. 8 two weeks ago, No. 6 threeweeks ago and No. 3 in back-to-back weeks prior to that.Â
- The Flames (16-4) are two wins away from equaling their win total (18) from a season ago. Liberty was 18-14 during the 2023-24 season.Â
