LYNCHBURG, Va. – Current Liberty women's lacrosse head coach and former Mount St. Mary's player (2002-06), Kelly Nangle, has been inducted to the Mount St. Mary's Athletics Hall of Fame, the school has announced.
Nangle took over as the head coach for the Lady Flames in 2014 following stints at Central Connecticut State and Rutgers. In 11 seasons coaching at Liberty, Nangle has amassed a 91-102 record.
Mount St. Mary's
A premier member of the Mount's defense during her time in Emmitsburg, Nangle earned a trio of All-NEC honors, including a First Team selection as a senior in 2006. She graduated second in program history for ground balls with 204 and fourth in caused turnovers in 116 – marks Nangle still holds today. She also made an impact in draw controls, attaining 65 over her four seasons. Hitting the ground running as a collegian, her 49 CTs as a freshman is still a class record and stands as the second highest total for a season in Mount history. Nangle and her team made conference in each season she played. Between 2004 and 2005, Nangle and her team won two conference championships and attended two NCAA tournaments. The team went through its first successful stretch in the postseason, culminating in a 2005 appearance in the NCAA championship appearance and 18-2 win over Manhattan in the play-in game.
"This honor means so much to me." Nangle said. "My time at the Mount were some of the best years of my life. To have the opportunity to be honored for the work we did is incredibly humbling and exciting! There's only one Mount St. Mary's!"
