
Wake Forest Tops Liberty 6-1, O’Neill Secures Comeback Win

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Daniella O'Neill earned the Flames lone victory on Friday in a 6-1 loss against Wake Forest on Friday afternoon. O'Neill secured her first singles win in the spring season after battling back from losing the first set to come back and win with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 score.
Wake Forest (3-1) jumped ahead of Liberty (1-3), winning the doubles point with triumphs on courts 1 and 2. The Demon Deacons went on to win five of the six first sets in singles, clinching the match-winning fourth point with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) victory in the No. 4 singles match. Wake Forest secured a three-match winning streak with the road win.
O'Neill, playing in the No. 2 singles match, saw her opponent take an early 6-1 lead, being the first match to reach the second set. The redshirt sophomore wasn't fazed and jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the set, before evening the match with a 6-1 score. The third set saw the Lady Flame dominate, holding the lead until she secured the victory.
Liberty continues to seek its first triumph against an ACC opponent.
