
Underwood Named VaSID POY, Liberty Features 4 All-State Members

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty field hockey fifth-year senior Reagan Underwood was named the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) University Division Field Hockey Co-Player of the Year.
Underwood was also tabbed a VaSID All-State first team honoree, headlining four Lady Flames who were all-state team members. Senior Tuti Dell Anna and freshman Dara Semmartin also earned VaSID All-State first team recognition, and junior Lou Combrinck garnered second team all-state distinction.
Underwood is one of four players in program history to earn a state player of the year honor, joining Jill Bolton (Offensive Player of the Year, spring 2021 and fall 2021), Agueda Moroni (2018) and Azul Iritxity Irigoyen (spring 2021 and 2022).
Liberty (10-8, 4-3 BIG EAST in 2024) tied Virginia for most all-state team selections with four. The Cavaliers' Suze Leemans garnered Co-Player of the Year honors alongside the Lady Flames' Underwood. UVA's Jans Croon was the VaSID Defensive Player of the Year, and head coach Ole Keusgen was named VaSID Coach of the Year.
Liberty has featured 33 VaSID All-State recipients over the last seven years in which an all-state team was announced (no team in 2023), including 24 over the past four years.
Reagan Underwood (VaSID Co-Player of the Year, VaSID All-State first team)
The two honors are Underwood's first VaSID All-State accolades. She also her first career All-American honor in what was her final season for the Lady Flames, garnering second team honors this past fall.
Underwood, a midfielder from Sinking Spring, Pa., received NFHCA All-South Region first team recognition, her second straight year making an all-region team. She received All-BIG EAST first team accolades this fall and was a BIG EAST All-Tournament team selection. Underwood was also tabbed to the NFHCA Division I Senior Team.
Underwood started all 18 games for Liberty during the fall 2024 campaign and tallied one goal, five assists, seven points and one defensive save. She leaves the Liberty field hockey program as the program's all-time leader in career starts (97) and ranks eighth in school history with 28 career assists. In her five seasons with the program, Underwood and the Lady Flames claimed two BIG EAST Championship titles and three BIG EAST regular season crowns and became the first team in school history to reach a national championship game (fall 2021 season).
Tuti Dell Anna (VaSID All-State first team)
Dell Anna receives her first career VaSID All-State honor. The Córdoba, Argentina native is one of only three forwards in the Commonwealth to garner first team distinction.
Dell Anna, Liberty's top goal scorer in 2024, received NFHCA All-South Region second team honors and was named to the 2024 All-BIG EAST second team. The senior concluded the season with a team-best 10 goals, one assist and 21 points (second on team). Dell Anna was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Oct. 8.
She scored two goals twice this year. The first time came in a 5-0 triumph over Appalachian State on Oct. 6, and the other occurrence was on Oct. 29 at James Madison. Dell Anna finished the year tied for 41st in the country in goals per game (0.56).
Dara Semmartin (VaSID All-State first team)
Semmartin garners VaSID All-State first team honors in her maiden campaign at Liberty. She was one of only two first-year players in the state named to the first team, along with VaSID Defensive Player of the Year and NFHCA All-America third team honoree Jans Croon.
Semmartin, a defender from Buenos Aires, Argentina, finished her first season at Liberty with two goals, 11 assists and 15 points in 18 appearances (all starts). She was an All-BIG EAST second team selection. Semmartin's 11 assists are the most ever by a Lady Flames freshman. She finished third in the BIG EAST and 10th nationally in assists per game (0.61).
Semmartin was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team. The rookie scored Liberty's lone goal in the BIG EAST Championship against top-seeded and No. 10-ranked Connecticut.
Lou Combrinck (VaSID All-State second team)
Combrinck, a NFHCA All-South Region second team selection after a breakout junior campaign, collects her first career all-state award.
The midfielder/forward from Hillcrest, South Africa was also an All-BIG EAST second team selection. Combrinck finished the year with career highs in goals (8), assists (6) and points (22). She ranked first on the Lady Flames in points and second in both goals and assists.
Combrinck earned two BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week awards this year (Sept. 17 and Oct. 22). She notched her first career three-goal game in a 9-0 home victory over Quinnipiac on Oct. 18. Combrinck scored Liberty's only goal in a 1-0 win over No. 4 Duke, Sept. 15. Combrinck notched a career-best two assists to go along with a goal and four points in a 5-0 triumph over William & Mary (Sept. 13).
