
Former Flame Masullo Representing Italy in 2024 Women’s European Lacrosse Championships

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Former Liberty women's lacrosse goalkeeper, Kristen Masullo, has been selected to command the crease for Italy in Braga, Portugal as part of the 2024 Women's European Lacrosse Championships. Masullo donned the red, white and blue for the Flames from 2011-14 and has participated in international competition for Italy since 2021.
The Berkeley Heights, N.J., native started 69 of the 71 games she appeared in for the Lady Flames, finishing her career with 675 saves and a .437 save percentage. She ranked in the top five in the NCAA for saves during her freshman and sophomore campaigns. Her .473 save percentage as a freshman placed her No. 14 in the country.
Masullo was an all-conference first team performer in the now-defunct National Lacrosse Conference in 2011 and she was an All-Big South second team member as a junior.
After graduating in 2014, Masullo kicked off her coaching career at Liberty, primarily working with goalkeepers as an assistant for the program in 2015. Liberty posted a 5-2 record in the Big South and made it to the Big South championship game in her first season. Masullo has made coaching stops at Gardner-Webb (2015), Lafayette (2016-17) and Quinnipiac (2018) She has additionally served as head coach at E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, Va. Masullo is the owner and head coach for Big Net Energy Lacrosse that focuses on goalie-specific training.
Masullo joined the Italian National team in 2021. She was named the Player of the Match in a platinum bracket semifinal, making 14 saves on 21 shots in a 9-7 victory over Latvia.
Team Italy and Masullo participate in the highly anticipated, 19-team event from July 10-20. The championship serves as a qualifier for the upcoming World Championship.
