LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty Head Baseball Coach Scott Jackson has resigned from his position to pursue other opportunities in college baseball. A national search for the program's eighth head coach will begin immediately.
Jackson recently completed his eighth season at the helm of the Liberty baseball program, posting a career record of 246-181. His 246 career wins and .576 winning percentage ranks third in program history among the program's seven head coaches.
"I deeply appreciate Coach Jackson's many contributions to Liberty baseball over the past eight seasons," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Ian McCaw. "His efforts led the program to great success on the field while providing an exceptional, Christ-centered experience for our student-athletes."
"We are excited to build on the strong foundation in place including outstanding facilities, resources and support."
Jackson is the only coach in program history to lead the Flames to three NCAA Regional appearances (2019, 2021 and 2022), including a pair of at-large selections in 2021 and 2022.
During Liberty's 2021 NCAA Regional appearance, Jackson led the Flames to the NCAA Knoxville Regional final where they faced Regional host and College World Series participant Tennessee.
Jackson's first trip to the NCAA Regional as he guided the Flames to the ASUN Championship and a school-record 43 wins in 2019. After the season, he was named the ASUN Coach of the Year and the VaSID Coach of the Year
During Jackson's time on the Mountain, he guided the Flames to five 30-plus win seasons, including a pair of 40-win campaigns. Under his tutelage, Liberty had 13 players selected in the MLB Draft and 16 go on to the professional ranks during the last seven years.
