MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The No. 69 Lady Flames tennis team improved to 2-0 in Conference USA play with a 4-0 road victory over Middle Tennessee. The match was held at the MTSU Outdoor Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Friday evening.
No. 69 Liberty (12-5, 2-0 CUSA) secured the doubles point against Middle Tennessee (9-11, 2-2 CUSA) for the fifth consecutive match. The Lady Flames grabbed wins in the No. 2 and 1 doubles matches. Liberty secured three straight singles victories on courts five, three and four to seal the 4-0 sweep.
Senior Esther Lovato earned career singles win No. 117, along with extending her singles winning streak to six matches. Lovato (10-4) leads Liberty with 10 singles triumphs in 2024.
Liberty grabs its fifth consecutive victory, the first road victory of the winning streak on Friday. The Lady Flames improve to 2-0 in their first season in Conference USA. Liberty topped Sam Houston 4-0 in its CUSA debut on March 22.
Liberty upped its record to 2-1 all-time against Middle Tennessee. The Lady Flames improve their record to 3-5 away from Lynchburg this season.

- The Lady Flames jumped ahead with a victory on court two. Priscila Janikian and Maria Turchetto (4-2) topped Cassidy Mataia and Eloise Swarbrick 6-3.
- Liberty secured the doubles point in the No. 1 doubles match. Maria Juliana Parra Romero and Tiffany Nguyen (6-4) bested Rutuja Chaplhalkar and Sana Garakani 6-3.
- Esther Lovato and Marina Davtyan (4-0) held a 5-3 lead over Lilly-Sophie Schmidt and Ilaria Sposetti in the No. 3 doubles match.
Singles
- Liberty grabbed a 2-0 lead in the No. 5 singles match. Davtyan (8-3) cruised past Schmidt 6-3, 6-0.
- The Lady Flames took a commanding 3-0 lead on court three. Lovato (10-4) topped Mataia with a pair of 6-3 sets.
- Liberty secured the match-winning fourth point in the No. 4 singles match. Daniella O'Neill (8-5) fought through a competitive second set for a 6-1, 6-4 triumph.
- As the match went unfinished, the Lady Flames were in the third set on courts one and two while Maria Turchetto was leading 6-4, 5-3 on court six.
