
No. 69 Lady Flames Upend WKU 4-0, Win Sixth Straight

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The No. 69 Liberty women's tennis team sweeps WKU 4-0 on the Road Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Flames grab their sixth consecutive victory, all with 4-0 outcomes.
No. 69 Liberty (13-5) jumped ahead of WKU (13-9, 0-1 CUSA) with a pair of doubles victories on courts one and three. The Lady Flames rolled in the singles, securing three consecutive victories in the No. 3, 5 and 6 singles matches for the 4-0 sweep.
The Lady Flames improve to 3-0 in conference action in their debut season in Conference USA. Liberty has yet to drop a single match point in CUSA play.
Liberty increases its winning streak to six consecutive matches. The team's last loss came in a neutral site match, falling 4-2 to Wichita State in Calif. on March 13.
Esther Lovato grabbed career singles win No. 118 on Saturday. The senior leads Liberty with 11 singles victories (11-4) this season. Lovato extends her singles winning streak to seven matches.
Liberty improves 4-5 on the road in 2024.

- WKU got the match started with a doubles victory on court two. Priscila Janikian and Maria Turchetto (4-3) were taken down 6-1 by Samantha Martinez and Mariana Zegada.
- Liberty responded with a strong win in the No. 1 singles match. Maria Juliana Parra Romero and Tiffany Nguyen (7-4) cruised past Paola Cortez and Sayda Hernandez 6-2.
- The doubles point came down court three. Esther Lovato and Marina Davtyan (4-0) battled their way to a tight 7-5 triumph over Sofia Blanco and Rachel Hermanova.
Singles
- Lovato boosted the lead to 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Hernandez in the No. 3 singles match.
- Liberty increased its lead to 3-0 on court five. Daniella O'Neill (9-5) bested Martinez following a tight first set 7-5, 6-2.
- The Lady Flames secured the match winning fourth point in the No. 6 singles match. Turchetto topped Zegeda with an identical score to court five, 7-5, 6-2.
- In the final three matches remaining, Liberty held a first set lead on courts one and four.
