
Lady Flames Set for Tuesday Game at Longwood

Liberty (28-18, 17-4 Conference USA) plays four away games this week, beginning on Tuesday when the Lady Flames play at former Big South rival Longwood (16-28, 9-6 Big South).

- The Lady Flames enter the week leading Conference USA standings at 17-4 after taking two out of three games in a home series with New Mexico State. Longwood is second in Big South standings (9-6) after going 2-1 against Radford this weekend.
- From 2011-19, Liberty (2011, 2018) and Longwood (2013, 2015-17, 2019), combined to win seven out of the nine Big South Tournament titles. Since then, Liberty won the ASUN Tournament in both 2021 and 2022, while Longwood has been Big South Tournament runner-up each of the last two years.
- Liberty is 5-0 against Longwood since leaving the Big South Conference after the 2018 season. Longwood's last win over the Lady Flames came April 8, 2018 in Farmville, a 3-2 Lancer victory.
- Liberty won a wild game, 8-7 in 10 innings, against New Mexico State on Friday. Rachel Roupe hit two-out, game-tying homers in both the seventh (solo) and ninth (two-run) innings) before Mary Claire Wilson scored the winning run on a passed ball in the 10th. NM State bounced back for a 6-2 win on Saturday, but Liberty clinched the series on Sunday. Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Brooke Roberts tied the game with a two-run homer before Sierra Kersten's RBI single made it 4-3. Then, KK Madrey made a sensational diving catch in left center, throwing to first for the game-ending double play.
- Madrey ended up on SC Top 10 twice last week, first on Wednesday for a diving catch against North Carolina. She then made SC Top 10 on Sunday for her game-ending double play. The junior has been on SC Top 10 a program-record three times in her career. Rachel Roupe had two Top 10 plays last year.
- For the season, Rachel Roupe (.353) leads the CUSA in doubles (16) and is tied for fourth in homers (11). Raigan Barrett bats .282, while Hailey Deter (.273) is second on the team with nine doubles. Mary Claire Wilson (.271) has scored 27 runs, while KK Madrey (.261) is ranked third in the CUSA with 15 steals. Sierra Kersten (.254) is second on the team in RBI (28), while Megan Fortner (.252) is second on the team with 10 home runs and has driven in 24 runs.
- Kaylan Yoder (10-7, 2.25 ERA) leads Conference USA in ERA, opponents' batting average (.195) and strikeouts (111) overall. Elena Escobar (9-2) ranks third in CUSA with a 2.37 ERA and fourth with 82 strikeouts.Ā Katie Love (6-4, 3.71) pitched a no-hitter against Jacksonville State on March 16 and tossed her third shutout of the season, April 9 at No. 24 Virginia.
