
Jax State Rallies to Edge Liberty 6-5

Trailing 4-3 in the ninth, the Gamecocks struck for three runs in the top of the inning to take a 6-4 lead, only to see the Flames close the gap to one on center fielder Kane Kepley's lead-off home run. However, Jacksonville State pitchers Colin Woodham and Austin Cornelius combined to retire the next three Liberty batters to seal the win.
Kepley, who had three hits yesterday, had two hits and scored twice in the contest for the Flames. Teammate Tanner Marsh had two hits, including a home run in the seventh to give Liberty the lead and a double. The shortstop also scored twice.
Liberty drops to 8-3 in CUSA play and 16-18 overall. Jacksonville State improves to 3-8 in CUSA and 12-22 overall.
