
Liberty Set to Host No. 5 Notre Dame, Visit Kennesaw State

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty hopes to get back on track, welcoming No. 5 Notre Dame Thursday afternoon and travelling to Kennesaw State for an Atlantic Sun matchup on Saturday. Thursday's meeting is set for a 1 p.m. first draw at the Liberty Lacrosse Field. Saturday's tilt is scheduled for 12 p.m. from Fifth Third Stadium.
Liberty (4-9, 1-2 ASUN) looks to swing momentum its way when it takes on No. 5 Notre Dame (11-2) and Kennesaw State (5-8, 0-3 ASUN). The Lady Flames dropped two consecutive home ASUN contests, falling 14-9 to Coastal Carolina on Thursday and 18-15 against Queens on Saturday. It was the first back-to-back defeats in ASUN contests in program history.
The Lady Flames own a 1-2 ASUN record and are currently tied for the No. 4 seed in the ASUN. The top four seeds advance to the ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championship held in Jacksonville, Fla. (May 2-4)
Liberty has been no stranger to challenging competition this season. Notre Dame marks the fifth ranked opponent the Lady Flames will meet in 2024. Other ranked foes Liberty has met include No. 16 Virginia, No. 6 North Carolina, No. 18 Richmond and No. 11 Florida.
Liberty seeks its first triumph over Notre Dame in program history in its sixth meeting against the Fighting Irish. The two last met in South Bend in 2023 with Liberty falling 19-8. The Lady Flames hope to build on a perfect 6-0 record all-time against Kennesaw State. The ASUN rivals most recently faced one another in 2023 with the Flames grabbing a 19-5 triumph.
The Lady Flames look for better performance at home this season. Liberty owns a 2-6 record in Lynchburg with just two home contests remaining.

- Despite the loss to Queens on Saturday, Liberty recorded 24 caused turnovers, tied for the third most caused turnovers in a single game in program history. Midfielder Katie Rodriguez led the way with a career-high five caused turnovers for Liberty.
- Liberty ranks No. 1 in the country with 16.46 caused turnovers per game and total caused turnovers with 214. Midfielder Katie Colavito leads Liberty with 30 caused turnovers.
- The Lady Flames rank No. 2 nationally with 22.62 ground balls per game and lead the nation with 294 total ground balls. Defender Madeleine Klunder paces the team with 38 ground balls.
- Liberty's attackers, Jordan Sheive (22 g, 14 a, 36 pts), Cami Merkel (23 g, 12 a, 35 pts) and Kelly Scott (23 g, 6a, 29 pts) lead the way for the Lady Flames offensively this season.
