
Liberty Embarks on Two-Game Stint in Florida, Opens Atlantic Sun Play

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lady Flames lacrosse team prepares to challenge No. 11 Florida Wednesday and opens Atlantic Sun play at Stetson Friday on a two-game road trip in Florida. Wednesday's game is set for an 11 a.m. first draw at the Donald R. Dizney Stadium. Friday's contest is scheduled for noon at the Athletic Training Center in DeLand, Fla.
Liberty (3-6) looks to respond from a tight 11-8 loss to Louisville last Wednesday when it takes on No. 11 Florida (9-2) and Stetson (3-6, 0-1 ASUN).
The Lady Flames are set to face their fourth ranked opponent of the season with the matchup against the No. 11 Gators, previously facing No. 16 Virginia (Feb. 9), No. 6 North Carolina (Feb. 13) and No. 18 Richmond (Feb. 24).

- Liberty ranks No. 1 in the country in caused turnovers per game at 15.78 per contest. The team slots in at No. 2 nationally with 142 total caused turnovers, trailing only Duquesne, who has played two more games than Liberty. Midfielder Katie Colavito leads the Lady Flames with 20 caused turnovers and ranks 11th nationally and second in the ASUN in caused turnovers per game (2.22).
- Liberty is 4-0 all-time in ASUN openers. The Lady Flames topped No. 21 Jacksonville 12-10 in last season's first league game (April 1, 2023). The win was Liberty's first-ever victory over a ranked foe.
- The Lady Flames were picked to finish second in the ASUN Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll. This is the fifth straight year Liberty has been slotted to finish second in the preseason poll. The Lady Flames (44 points) received two first place votes and trailed only six-time defending ASUN champion Jacksonville, who was picked to win the league for a seventh straight year.
- Goalkeeper Mara Tellers enjoyed one of the best performances of her Liberty career last Wednesday, making a career-high 12 saves and playing a full 60-minute game in an 11-8 loss to Louisville.
- The Lady Flames are No. 4 in the country with 22.56 ground balls per game. Defender Madeleine Klunder leads the team with 22 ground balls.
- Liberty ranks No. 19 nationally in shots per game (32.67) but No. 65 in scoring offense with 11.67 goals per game. Attacker Jordan Sheive leads the team with 25 points (17 g, 8 a).
- The midfielders continue to seek greater production at draw control wins, currently ranked No. 66 in the country with 12.89 draw wins per game. Liberty often moved defender Jenna Burrow to the outside of the midfield circle in Wednesday's contest. Colavito leads Liberty with 36 draw controls this season.
- The Lady Flames check in at No. 24 in the nation in total free-position shots (56) but just No. 97 in free-position percentage, converting at a 37.5 percent rate.
