Trailing 7-4, Liberty scored two runs in the eighth inning to cut Wake Forest's lead to one and loaded the bases with one out. However, reliever Will Ray was able to retire the next two Flames to keep the tying run at third and end the inning as the Demon Deacons held on for the victory.
Liberty falls to 10-14 on the season. Wake Forest improves to 17-7.
