LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Liberty field hockey team and head coach Nikki Parsley-Blocker have added Dara Semmartin. Semmartin, a back/midfielder from Buenos Aires, Argentina, will be joining the squad this spring semester.
"Joining Liberty University's hockey team isn't just about playing a sport. It's stepping into a family where the love for the game, unwavering support and a commitment to excellence create a home on the field," Semmartin said. "Liberty isn't just a university; it's where my hockey journey becomes a thriving, unforgettable chapter."
Semmartin has competed at the club level for three different teams since 2010, most recently with El Club St. Catherine's (check) (2022-24). From 2019-21, she played for Club Náutico Hacoaj. She was a member of Club Arquitectura from 2010-18. In 2018, Semmartin and Club Náutico Hacoaj won the AAHBA title, and she served as a team captain for that squad. In 2019, Semmartin was selected to play for the selection Buenos Aires (SUB14) and won another title. In 2023, Semmartin was called up to train a few times with the Argentinian U21 Junior National team. She played for the first division with her current club (El Club St. Catherine's), and Semmartin helped her team qualify for the Top10 tournament.
In addition to her club experience, Semmartin has played at the prep level for Brick Towers College and helped that team finish first in the LIDE (Student Sports League). In 2019, Semmartin and Brick Towers took third place at the Jesus Maria Tournament.
"Dara is an exceptional player both on and off the field, recognizing the true essence of teamwork and determination," stated Agustín Corradini, former Coordinator of the Hacoaj Club, former coach of the Lionesses and now coach of Royal Leopold. "She is not just a talent but a visionary leader who sees plays that other players might overlook, elevating the game and leaving an indelible mark on every match."
