LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty field hockey fifth-year senior Reagan Underwood has been named a 2024 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-America second team honoree.
Underwood earned her first career All-American honor in what was her final season for the Lady Flames. She is the 16th All-American in the 14-year history of the Liberty field hockey program, with 14 of those coming in the past eight years. Liberty has featured at least one All-American in each of the last 10 years.
Underwood is the seventh different player in program history to garner inclusion on the NFHCA All-America second team, joining Azul Iritxity Irigoyen (2022 and 2023), Bethany Dykema (2022 and 2023), Daniella Rhodes (fall 2021), Ashley Dykema (2019), Agueda Moroni (2017) and Serena Barr (2016).
Underwood, a midfielder from Sinking Spring, Pa., received NFHCA All-South Region first team recognition, her second straight year making an all-region team. She received All-BIG EAST first team accolades this fall and was a BIG EAST All-Tournament team selection. Underwood was also tabbed to the NFHCA Division I Senior Team.
Underwood started all 18 games for Liberty during the fall 2024 campaign and tallied one goal, five assists, seven points and one defensive save. Underwood and Liberty finished with a 10-8 mark this past season and finished the year ranked No. 18 in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll and 20th in the final NCAA Field Hockey RPI listing.
Underwood leaves the Liberty field hockey program as the program's all-time leader in career starts (97) and ranks eighth in school history with 28 career assists. In her five seasons with the program, Underwood and the Lady Flames claimed two BIG EAST Championship titles and three BIG EAST regular season crowns and became the first team in school history to reach a national championship game (fall 2021 season).
The NFHCA honored 48 Division I student-athletes with first, second or third team All-America recognition.
The NFHCA National Player of the Year award will be announced on Thursday.
