Liberty Storylines

Liberty and McNeese will meet in the 2024 Paradise Jam title game. The Flames bested Kansas State 67-65 in the semifinals, and the Cowboys knocked off Longwood by a 82-69 score.
Colin Porter paced the Flames with a season-high 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including a crucial three-pointer late in the game. Isaiah Ihnen had a season-best 16 points and added seven boards. Owen Aquino was 4-of-4 from the foul line in the final four minutes and 6-of-8 in the game from the line.
The victory over Kansas State was Liberty's ninth Power Five win over the last eight-plus seasons. Prior to that Liberty's last Power Five win was a 66-45 home triumph over Missouri on Dec. 2, 2021 at Liberty Arena. The Flames' last high major win was a 62-57 victory over BIG EAST foe Villanova in the first round of the 2023 NIT.
The Flames bested Louisiana 89-69 in the semifinals behind a record shooting performance. Liberty shot 67.3 percent from the floor, a new Paradise Jam record and a new single-game record for the Flames in the Division I era.
Liberty last won an in-season tournament in 2023, going 3-0 to claim the Myrtle Beach Invitational crown.
Kaden Metheny (16.5 ppg) is Liberty's leading scorer at the Paradise Jam, followed by Isaiah Ihnen (14.0 ppg).
This is the first time since the 2000-21 since that three out of LIberty's first seven games have been decided by three or fewer points. The Flames are 2-1 in those games this season.
