
Chen, Lemus Make Liberty Debuts at Elon Invitational

ELON, N.C. – Liberty freshmen Yu-Yun Chen and Anika Lemus participated in six matches over the weekend to open their Liberty careers at the Elon Invitational this weekend. The pair combined for a 5-4 record at the event with a 2-1 doubles record and a combined 3-3 singles mark.
The two played in three doubles matches together and put together a strong outing. The duo topped Appalachian State's Rudy Broadbent and Naledi Manyube for each of their first career Liberty victories.
Chen, a native of Taiwan, collected a 2-1 singles mark over the two-day event. The freshmen bested Coastal Carolina's Anna Babayan 6-4, 6-4 to claim a singles victory in her first collegiate singles match.
Lemus, a Guatemala native, earned a 1-2 singles record at the Invitational. She came back to top Elon's Simone Bergeron 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8) to claim her first singles victory as a Lady Flame.
The event was Liberty's second fall tournament of 2024. Liberty previously competed at the Jimmy Powell Invitational, also hosted by Elon, on Sept. 13, 14.
