LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty women's tennis prepares for its first fall tournament as a full team at the 2024 ITA Women's Atlantic Regional Championship in Charlottesville, Va., beginning on Thursday. Hosted by Virginia, the event begins with a qualifying round on Thursday with title matches held on Monday.
The 26-team, six-day event serves as a pathway to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships in Waco, Texas (Nov. 19-24). The two singles finalists and the doubles champion will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Individual Championships. In addition, third and fourth-place finishers will hold priority for competing at ITA Sectionals (Nov. 7-10). Doubles finalists will also make sectionals and semifinalists are probable.
The Liberty Tennis Complex hosted the 2023 ITA Women's All-American Championships. Only three current Lady Flames, Sadie Daavettila, Daniella O'Neill and Maria Turchetto, have competed in a previous ITA Atlantic Regional.
The Lady Flames had only four players participate in their first tournament at the Jimmy Powell Invitational (Sept. 12-13) hosted by Elon.
