
Liberty Travels to Lindenwood for Final Road Match of Regular Season

LYNCHBURG, Va. – On Friday, the Liberty Flames will venture to St. Charles, Mo., for an Ohio Valley Conference match against the Lindenwood Lions. The contest will be the final regular season road game for the Flames in 2024.
Liberty (7-5-1, 5-2 OVC) enters the match off back-to-back home shutouts of Eastern Illinois and Southern Indiana this past weekend. The Flames currently sit in second place in the OVC standings with 15 points, one point behind co-leaders Houston Christian and SIUE and four points ahead of Lindenwood (7-5-3, 3-3-3 OVC).
Last season, the Lions and Flames met on the pitch in Lynchburg for the first time. Lindenwood pulled out a 2-1 win on Oct. 19. The Lions scored the first two goals of the contest and then held off a late Flames rally for the victory.

- Liberty moved to 4-1 at home this season with its two wins last week at Osborne Stadium. It was the second time this season that the Flames have recorded back-to-back shutouts. Previously, Liberty shut out Incarnate Word (2-0) and Houston Christian (1-0) on the road on Oct. 3 and 6.
- Last week, Flames forward Michael Huss was named the OVC Offensive Player of the Week and was selected to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week. Huss had two goals and two assists in Liberty's 5-0 win over Southern Indiana on Sunday. In addition, he had a shot in the Eastern Illinois game. It was the second time this season the senior amassed six points in a match as he scored three goals in a win over Western Illinois on Sept. 28. The Phoenix, Arizona native has scored two or more goals in a contest five times during his career.
- Teammate Carlos Trott was selected as the OVC Co-Defensive Player of the Week. The senior defender has provided the Flames with solid defensive play from his center back position throughout 2024. Last week, not only was he part of two shutouts but was a key part of the Flames holding their two opponents to a combined five shots on goal.
- The Flames have outscored their opponents, 31-14, in 2024. Head Coach Kelly Findley's team leads the OVC and is ninth nationally with a +17 goal differential.
- Liberty paces the OVC and is seventh in the nation in scoring offense (2.38 goals per game). The Flames' 31 goals are 13th in the country in total goals.
- Liberty enters the week with a 1.08 goals-against average. The Flames have five shutouts on the season.
- 14 different Flames have scored a goal this season. Huss leads the OVC and Liberty with a career-high 10 goals. Gabe Finley and Luke Eberle each have scored three goals.
- Sam Farner scored his first goal of the season in Sunday's win over Southern Indiana.
- Huss leads the Flames and the OVC with 10 goals and 22 points. He enters the week 10th in total goals and 15th in total points in the country.

- Blake Franzen started and played all 90 minutes in goal in Sunday's 5-0 win over Southern Indiana. Franzen made two saves.
