
Liberty’s Huss and Trott Collected OVC Weekly Honors

LYNCHBURG, VA. – Liberty forward Michael Huss has been selected the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week and defender Carlos Trott has been voted the Co-Defensive Player of the Week by the league's communications directors, the OVC office announced this morning.
It is the second time this season and the third time during his career that Huss has been named the OVC Offensive Player of the Week. Earlier this season, the forward received the honor for the week of Oct. 1. Huss was also included on TopDrawerSoccer.com's Team of the Week.
Meanwhile, Trott shared the honor of Defensive Player of the Week with Houston Christian's Theo Butterworth. It is the first time a Flame has been recognized as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
After managing one shot in Liberty's 2-0 win over Eastern Illinois on Thursday at Osborne Stadium, Huss had quite an afternoon on Sunday. The senior forward scored two goals and assisted on two others for six points in the Flames' 5-0 victory over Southern Indiana at Osborne Stadium. It is the second time this season Huss amassed six points in a match as he scored three goals in a win over Western Illinois on Sept. 28. The Phoenix, Arizona native has scored two or more goals five times during his career.
With his two goals on Sunday, Huss leads the OVC and is ninth nationally with 10 goals. The senior also paces the conference with 22 points. In addition, Huss has been one of the more accurate shooters in the nation, leading the conference and ranking ninth with a 0.625 shot accuracy.
Meanwhile, Trott has provided steady play from his center back position during the 2024 season. This past weekend not only was the senior from Campo Bom, Brazil, part of two shutouts in wins over Eastern Illinois and Southern Indiana but was an integral part of the Flames holding the two teams to a combined five shots on goal.
Liberty (7-5-1, 4-2 OVC) leads the OVC and is eighth nationally with a +17 goal differential. The Flames have outscored their opponents, 31-14. In addition, Liberty paces the OVC and is sixth in the nation in scoring offense (2.38 goals per game). Meanwhile, the Flames are second in the OVC, allowing 14 goals.
Huss, Trott and Liberty will travel to St. Charles, Mo., on Friday for their final OVC road match of the 2024 regular season. The Flames will square off with the Lindenwood Lions. Match time at Hunter Stadium is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. CST.
