LYNCHBURG, Va. – For the fifth time this season, Liberty guard Asia Boone has been honored as CUSA Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week.
Boone previously swept all four CUSA Freshman of the Week recognitions for the month of December (Dec. 4, Dec. 11, Dec. 18 and Dec. 26). She is the first Lady Flame to collect five conference freshman of the week awards since 2017-18, when Ashtyn Baker was a five-time Big South Freshman of the Week.
A native of San Diego, Calif., Boone averaged 9.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg and 1.5 spg during the Lady Flames' 1-1 week.
Boone started her week by posting six points and a game-high three steals during a 78-63 loss at Jacksonville State on Wednesday.
Boone then tallied nine of her 12 points after halftime on Saturday, contributing to a come-from-behind 66-59 victory over Louisiana Tech at Liberty Arena. The win was Liberty's first-ever Conference USA triumph.
Liberty (6-12, 1-2 CUSA) will take to the road for a pair of contests this week. The Lady Flames will play at FIU Thursday at 7 p.m. before heading to Sam Houston for a Saturday matinee at 3 p.m. Eastern.
