
Liberty in 4th Place After Day 1 of FSU Fall Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Liberty swimming & diving team is currently fourth in team standings after day one of the 2023 Seminole Fall Classic, Friday at Morcom Aquatics Center.
Following the first day of competition, the host Florida State Seminoles lead with 118 points, followed by TCU (91), Georgia Tech (87) and Liberty (61).

- Florida State won five events today, while Georgia Tech took home three victories and TCU won the 400 freestyle relay.
- This weekend's meet features unique scoring, with two swimmers per team per event scoring points and one diver per team adding to the point total. One relay per school scores as well.
- Freshman Kamryn Cannings posted Liberty's best finish of the session, swimming 54.76 to finish second in the 100 butterfly. Meanwhile, teammates Grace Isaacs (400 IM) and Abbie Shaw (100 backstroke) pocketed third-place finishes.
- This is the first time since Jan. 4, 2020 that Liberty has competed in the state of Florida for swimming & diving. That day, Liberty swept a quad meet at FGCU, defeating Tulane, Illinois State and the host FGCU Eagles. This is the ninth season in which Liberty has had a meet in the Sunshine State, opening the calendar years of 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 with meets in Florida.
- Kamryn Cannings' 54.76 from this evening ranks 10th on Liberty's all-time Top 10 performers list in the 100 butterfly.
- Cannings, along with redshirt freshman Malia Francis and true freshmen Emily Harstad, Shannon Icard, Caroline Stamps and Sadie Stricklin, are all making their regular-season debut as Lady Flames.
- Liberty has four pairs of sisters on this year's roster, in Kamryn and Kaycee Cannings, Ella and Shelby Kahn, Abbie and Grace Shaw, and Sadie and Sydney Stricklin.
