Ferguson Honored on ASUN Spring Winners for Life Team

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty's Lizzy Ferguson was honored on the 2022-23 ASUN Spring Winners for Life team on Thursday.
The team is comprised of one student-athlete from each of the 14 ASUN member institutions and honors those who display excellence on and off the playing surface.
The Winners for Life team honors a campus citizen that is respected as one who shares and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility and Sportsmanship. To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the current academic year in an ASUN sponsored sport and be in good academic standing at his/her university.
Ferguson, who hails from Fort Washington, Pa., is a four-time ASUN Academic Honor Roll recipient and earned a bachelor's degree in strategic communication in 2022. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in communication.
Ferguson's list of accomplishments on the field this past spring include:
• USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I All-American honorable mention
• ILWomen All-American honorable mention
• ASUN All-Conference first team
• ASUN All-Tournament team
• ASUN Player of the Week (Feb. 28)
• Two-time ASUN Defensive Player of the Week (March 21, March 28)
• Selected to play in IWLCA Senior All-Star Game
• Finished third in nation in draw controls per game (9.58) and had a program-record
182 draw controls (finished career with school-record 288 draws)
• Tallied 11 or more draw control nine times, including a career-best 18 vs.
Lindenwood on April 22 (tied for third most of any player in the country during the
spring 2023 campaign)
• Finished year with 33 goals (third on team), 11 assists, 44 points (third on team),
29 ground balls (third on squad) and 23 caused turnovers (tied for second on squad)
• Finished the season with career bests in draw controls, goals, assists, points, ground
balls and caused turnovers
• Totaled 16 draw controls, two goals, three assists, five points, four ground balls
and four caused turnovers in two ASUN Championship games
• Recorded 83 draw controls, 14 goals, seven assists, 21 points, 10 ground balls
and six caused turnovers in seven ASUN regular season contests
• Led Liberty to a 7-0 ASUN record and its first regular season conference title
in program history
